phytoclass
phytoclass is a pigment-based chemotaxonomic method: it uses non-negative matrix factorization and simulated annealing to estimate the biomass of phytoplankton classes from HPLC pigment concentrations. The Southeast US MBON uses it to turn pigment samples from the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary cruises into taxonomic occurrence data. A Shiny graphical interface makes the method usable without writing R.
